What safeguarding means here

Safeguarding is the work of protecting people, especially children, young people and adults who may be at risk, from abuse, neglect and harm. Because so much of what we do involves families, it runs through everything: how we recruit, how we’re trained, and how we look after the people in our care.

How we keep people safe

• A named lead. We have a designated safeguarding lead, and a deputy, whose job is to guide the team and act on concerns.
• Trained, carefully-chosen people. Everyone who works with you is trained to notice and respond when someone may be at risk, and is safely recruited.
• Risk seen, not skirted. We treat risk as a normal part of care, and keep clear records of any concern and what we did about it.
• One team with the family. Working alongside families, a real strength of how we work, helps us keep young people safe and everyone on the same page.

Private, but never at the cost of someone’s safety

We handle what you tell us with real care, and share it only when we need to. But keeping someone safe comes first: if a person is at risk of serious harm, we may have to share information to protect them, even without consent. When we do, we’re guided by the law, and we share thoughtfully, only as far as is needed to keep someone safe.
