Menopause & perimenopause

Menopause care that looks at all of you

Perimenopause can arrive as low mood, anxiety, poor sleep or brain fog long before anyone mentions hormones. We assess mind and body together from the start, so the hormonal picture is never an afterthought.

A familiar story

Two years, and one question nobody asked

An illustrative example drawn from patterns we see in practice, not a real person.

  1. Low mood, out of nowhere

In her mid forties, a woman who has always coped well becomes low quite suddenly. She sleeps badly, loses confidence at work and no longer recognises herself.

  2. The usual route

Her GP refers her to psychiatry. She is diagnosed with depression and starts an antidepressant.

  3. More of the same

Therapy is added and she works hard at it. Months pass, the dose changes, and very little shifts.

  4. Two years later

Someone finally asks about her cycle, her night sweats and her sleep. It is perimenopause, and what she needed was hormone treatment, considered alongside everything else.

Nobody in this story did anything wrong on their own. Each professional treated what was in front of them. No one looked at the whole picture, and the cost was two years: to her health, her family and her work.

Illustration of one person held inside a single unbroken loop of care, with points on the loop for the different things being looked at: sleep, body and mind.

What we mean by holistic

Holistic, in the clinical sense

Holistic has become a word that can mean almost anything. For us it means something specific: we don’t work in silos. Your first assessment looks at five areas together, so nothing is left unturned and nothing waits two years to be asked.

Mind

Mood, anxiety, concentration, memory and sleep, and how they have changed. Earlier episodes too, such as low mood around pregnancy and birth, or in the days before a period.

Body

Your cycle, hot flushes, night sweats, energy and physical health, and whether checks such as thyroid and iron have been done. Assessed together with your mood, not in a separate appointment.

Relationships

Your family history, including when menopause came for the women in your family and any history of low mood, and the people you live with and care for.

Work

What has changed at work, from focus and confidence to tired mornings, and what support or adjustments would help you keep going.

Life

Your history, what else you are carrying right now, and what this stage of life means to you.

Why getting it right early matters

A long, roundabout route is costly. Emotionally, for you and the people around you. Professionally, when confidence and performance slip without explanation. And financially, when months of treatment are not aimed at the cause.

A thorough assessment takes a little longer at the start. It can save a great deal of time, and a great deal of difficulty, later on.

What to expect

How it works

01

A first conversation

Tell us what has changed. No diagnosis needed, and you don’t have to work out whether it’s hormones or mood. That’s our job.

02

A whole-person assessment

Mind, body, history, family and context in one assessment. We ask the questions that often go unasked, and help you track symptoms against your cycle.

03

One plan, one team

Psychological support, medication where it’s right for you, nutrition, sleep and work, brought together in one plan. Where hormone treatment or specialist tests may help, we bring in the partners we work with.

04

Support that adapts

Perimenopause changes over time. We review the plan with you and step care up or down as things settle.

The team around you

One point of contact, a whole team behind them

Our in-house team works as one, around one plan.

Clinical psychology & psychotherapy

Making sense of what’s happening, with support for mood, anxiety, sleep and identity through a big transition.

Psychiatry

Specialist review where low mood or anxiety is significant, including whether current medication is still the right fit.

Dietetics

Nutrition through perimenopause and beyond, including energy, sleep, and long-term bone and heart health.

Occupational therapy

Practical strategies for routines, daily life and work when energy and concentration come and go.

Performance coaching

Rebuilding confidence and focus at work, alongside clinical care rather than instead of it.

Working alongside us

Specialists we work with

  • Endocrinology
  • Gynaecology
  • Pelvic health physiotherapy
  • Psychosexual therapy

Not part of the in-house team, but closely linked and brought into your plan when you need them.

Who we work with

What we don’t do in-house, we arrange for you

We don’t pretend to do everything under one roof. We don’t have an in-house endocrinologist, laboratory or genetic testing. What we do have are close working relationships with specialists and laboratories we know and trust, and we bring them into your care rather than sending you off to find them.

Endocrinology & menopause specialists

Specialist medical input on hormones, including whether hormone replacement therapy is right for you.

Laboratories

Blood, urine and other hormone tests, chosen for the question being asked rather than ordered as a bundle.

Genetic testing

Where medication is part of the picture, genetic insight can guide a safer, better-matched choice.

Your GP

Kept informed with your consent, so your wider medical care stays joined up.

Never sent from pillar to post

Sometimes a test has to be done somewhere else, at a partner laboratory or clinic. When that happens, we arrange it, explain why it’s needed, and bring the results back to your team. Everything is held in one place. You don’t retell your story to each new specialist, juggle appointments in different places, or spend weeks searching online for who to see. We already know who to work with.

This may be for you if

  • Your mood, sleep or concentration changed suddenly from your late thirties onwards
  • Treatment for depression or anxiety hasn’t helped as much as expected
  • You wonder whether hormones are part of the picture, but no one has asked
  • You want mind and body looked at together, by one team

Common questions

No. You don’t need to know what’s going on to get in touch. Perimenopause is often recognised from your symptoms and history rather than from a single test, which is why a thorough assessment matters.
